Here are five healthy condiments that you should be using. Tomorrow I will list the 5 worst that you should avoid in your diet.
There are many condiments however these are some of the healthiest and ones you should start including in your healthy eating plan.
1. Mustard--It has no added sugar. Mustard seed is a great source of antioxidants.
2. Guacamole--Once again here is my favorite food that I eat everyday. I usually eat guacamole on my eggs or salad. It is even great on burgers. Guacamole contains a lot of healthy fat. It satisfies your appetite and regulates hormone balance. It is great to eat during menopause. It has lots of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. If you buy pre-made from the store be sure it doesn't have added trans-fat. I buy the brand called, "Wholly Guacamole," classic style. This can be found near the organic produce. I like this brand because it comes in individual serving packets and can be taken in your lunch.
3. Salsa--If you buy a good brand these usually don't have added sugar. Read the labels to ensure they don't have added sugar. Salsa is mostly vegetables and that is what makes it so good for you. If you like ketchup you should give salsa a try on your burger and also help reduce your sugar intake. Eating salsa with corn chips is not healthy. I suggest eating sprouted grain chips like the "Way Better" brand of blue chips. These are sprouted grains which are high in the omegas.
4. Hummus--This is made mostly of chickpeas. When you buy hummus be sure it is made with olive oil and not soybean or canola oil. Hummus is great with raw vegetable sticks or on a burger or sandwich. Give it a try you may be surprised.
5. Pesto--This is a mixture of garlic, pine nuts, basil, olive oil, and grated cheese. Its a great source of healthy fats and antioxidants. Pesto is great on sandwiches and with meats. I like it with chicken the best.
There are many condiments however you need to be careful of added sugars and unhealthy oils. Be sure to read your labels carefully and enjoy some of these very healthy additions to your diet.
