Healthy Snack Tips

When trying new foods and changing your diet the foods do not have to be dull or tasteless.  I have been trying some new foods and drinks that are good for you and taste great.  I drink Green Tea throughout the day and found a Green Tea Superfruit with Purple Acai and Blueberry by Lipton.  This is a great addition to Green Tea and provides some different flavor as a change instead of just plain green tea.  Remember to stay away from soda and sports drinks for they have added sugar.

Another great snack addition I discovered is blue chips.  I have always enjoyed the taste of of blue chips however not all blue chips are made as healthy as others.  I found the "Way Better Snacks" by Simply Sprouted to be really good for you as well as tasty.  These are great with guacamole, salsa, broken up in soup or chili, or alone as a snack.  I purchased these blue chips at Fresh Market.  These are a great alternative to potato chips and other fatty snacks.

Another healthy snack is carrots.  I know that anyone who has been on a diet in the past relates carrots and celery to the list of dull foods.  Carrots and celery along with apples do not have to be dull for they are great when dipped in peanut butter or guacamole.  Popcorn drizzled lightly with honey is another snack I enjoy however to get the healthy benefits you should have an air popper and don't add butter or salt.

One last comment to help add flavor to your food.  I use Mrs.Dash seasoning blend on many of my foods. This is a great seasoning for it is tasty and salt free.  I use the original blend or lemon/garlic on my baked potatoes.  I wash the potato and drizzle with extra light olive oil then sprinkle Mrs. Dash seasoning all over the potato.  Wrap them in foil and bake in a 350 oven for one hour.  These are so good and have wonderful flavor.  They are also good sprinkled on any green salad that contains meat.
