I was watching Dr. Oz this week and he has been discussing weight loss and the importance of your metabolism. He also noted how important water is to a healthy body and many of us are not drinking enough water. If you want to drink more water but tend to forget Dr.Oz presented this interesting tip. Take five large rubber bands and place them on your wrist. Every time you drink a 16 oz. bottle or glass of water take one of the bands off. By the end of the day you should have all 5- bands removed and consumed 5-16 oz. glasses of water. Drinking a 16oz. bottle or glass of water will increase your metabolism in just 10 minutes. Over a period of a year you will loose 5 pounds just by drinking water.
Metabolism is a key to helping you burn fat. Increasing your metabolism means your body burns calories at a higher rate. If your metabolism is high its burning calories even when your not working out. Low metabolism in turn can result in weight gain. Eating the right foods such as those listed in the blog under pages will help you boost your metabolism and begin to burn stubborn belly fat.
Eating breakfast is the first step to begin boosting your metabolism. Try adding cinnamon to your cereal, oatmeal, or coffee. Just 1/4 to 1 teaspoon each day added to your foods will increase your metabolism and increase fat burning. Plus cinnamon taste so good in many foods such as oatmeal. I also add guacamole to my eggs for avocados are a great fat burning food.
If you are a busy person like many of us are, you may not always pay attention to eating for long periods of time. You might get busy at work and skip meals or not eat the right foods. This is a bad habit and effects your metabolism. I know this use to happen to me. I would not take time to stop what I was doing and eat or I would grab a snack that was not really that healthy. This type of eating pattern will cause you to be tired and your metabolism will slow down. When you do eventually eat you will tend to eat to much of the wrong foods or binge. Eating smaller healthy meals and snacks more often throughout the day should become a habit instead of missing meals. Starving yourself or not eating enough infrequently does not help you loose weight. You need to eat the right foods more frequently for your body to burn fat. Don't forget to include the listed 15 foods to help burn fat including avocado, cinnamon, eggs, green tea, etc. that are posted in the pages of my blog. Eating these foods more frequently throughout the day will help boost your metabolism and in turn help with weight loss.
When you eat big meals you will not burn the calories immediately they will instead be stored as fat. I think we can all relate to eating a big meal such as those we have at the holidays. When you are done eating you feel tired and stuffed and want to take a nap. This is because you have eaten to much at once and cannot burn all the calories off. It is healthier to eat five or six smaller meals to be able to break up the calories. Smaller more frequent meals/eating helps your blood sugar level and you have less cravings.
Some people who diet always seem to be hungry. Sometimes they only eat one big meal a day. I think this is crazy and not healthy. This is not helping them with weight control and is not a habit of healthy eating they can continue throughout their life. I am striving to create a healthy eating plan that I can keep and maintain throughout my future. Therefore I eat healthy foods and snacks more often and do not experience cravings or hunger. When our blood sugar levels are high we will tend to eat less. Low blood sugar is accompanied with hunger. When you are hungry you will over eat or eat the wrong foods. I feel much better eating more of the right foods in smaller portions. I never liked the stuffed feeling following a big meal. I can say that since beginning my healthy eating plan I have not had that feeling and it is wonderful.
