15 foods to burn belly fat

I discovered these 15 top foods to help burn belly fat.  These were sent to my email by nutritionist Josh Bezoni author of Belly Fat Free.  Including these in your diet and cooking will get you off to a great start toward a healthier diet and flatter belly.  I have been including many of them in my diet routine and I am beginning to see results.

1. Avocado--These are great at killing belly fat.  Good source of fiber, potassium, vitamins c,k, folate, and B6.  They are high in antioxidants.  Half an avocado has 160 calories, 15 grams of heart-healthy unsaturated fat and only 2 grams of saturated fat. I eat avocados on a regular basis.  I cut them up and eat them in salads and omelets.
TIP:  To keep Avocados from browning after slicing just sprinkle them with lemon juice and refrigerate in a zip lock plastic bag.  My son in law informed me that you should also place the pit in the bag to help keep them from browning.  If you have any other tips please let me know.
My son lives in California and went to an Avocado festival.  He said they use avocados to make  fudge.  I am really interested in that and will be trying a fudge recipe with avocados. I'll keep you posted on that.  (90% of all Avocados come from California with the other 10% from Florida.)  You can purchase Avocados in your grocery store-produce section.  They are dark green and shaped like a pear.  They should be slightly soft yet firm.  If they are really hard they are usually not ripe yet.  You can place them in a bag with a banana or apple to speed up the process.

2. Peanut butter--almond butter, nuts, seeds.  These help keep you full and curb cravings.  They have healthy belly burning fats and minerals.  I add peanut butter or nuts to my greek yogurk.  I also sometimes just eat a teaspoonful of peanut butter while watching tv.  Within 15 minutes you will not have any cravings and feel satisfied.

3.  Healthy oils--Olive or coconut are best.  I cook everything in olive oil to include my eggs, chicken, and recipes that call for vegetable oil.  I pour olive oil over my potato then sprinkle with Mrs.Dash seasoning, wrap in foil and bake in the oven on 375 for about 50-60 minutes.

4.  Vegetables--All vegetable are great however broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage are very beneficial.  I steam them or eat them raw or in my salads and omelets.  It is important to note that you may eat as many fruits and vegetables as you wish for they are all good for you.  The more variety in color the better.

5.  Omelets--Eggs are full of belly burning protein and vitamins.  I eat eggs from cage free chickens or organic.  These can be found in Walmart.

6.  Dark Chocolate--Contains antioxidants and aid with fat burning.  Look for a cocoa level of at least 78%.  This can be a challenge to locate in the store.  I have been using semi-sweet chips.

7.  Oatmeal--As I have noted before that I include cinnamon, raisins, nuts, honey, and even semi chocolate chips in my oatmeal.  It is a great whole grain food that contains fiber which is needed to clean toxic waste out of your body. Add cinnamon for an extra healthy fat burning breakfast.  Do not eat the instant flavored oatmeal for they contain sugar.  Use the oats that you cook.

8.  Green Tea--very potent antioxidant and linked to increased fat burning.  I drink green tea hot and iced.  Prior to bed I drink a cup of warm (not hot) green tea with two teaspoons of honey.  This has contributed to a more restful sleep.  There are now green teas with other flavors such as blueberry, raspberry.

9.  Beans--Black, navy, refried, lima,  these have 6 or more grams of fiber per half cup.  Once again fiber is needed to clean your body of toxic waste.  I eat beans cold on my salad or hot with a meal or in soup, or chili.

10.  Berries--These are great foods for helping fight cravings and are full of fiber and vitamins.  Keep all kinds of berries around to add to your yogurt, oatmeal, and just to eat as a healthy snack.

11.  Cinnamon--this is a powerful antioxidant that helps level out your blood sugar and helps you store less belly fat.  I try to add cinnamon in as many foods as possible.

12.  Chili Peppers--These contain an active ingredient which increases calorie burning, stabalizes blood sugar and is a potent antioxidant.

13.  Yogurt--Greek yogurt-plain is best.  These have probiotics that fight belly fat.  Watch out for most yogurts are loaded with sugar.  I buy greek  yogurt and add honey, berries, nuts, and raisins.  Yogurt can also be added to baking and other recipes.  I am beginning to experiment with yogurt in my cooking.  I will post recipes soon that include yogurt.

14.  Wild Salmon--Best belly blasting food and contains protein and omega 3-fatty acids.  Omega 3 is very important in your diet to help with lowering your belly fat.  I also eat other fish such as tuna, cod, on my salad along with seafood-shrimp, scallops.

15.  Turkey and chicken--white meat is best.  I also eat any lean meat in my diet.  A key to meat is that it should not be the main item on  your plate.  You should have more vegetables and fruits and a smaller portion of meat.  Protein is an important part to your everyday diet just keep it lean.

As I locate new information on other foods to help burn fat I will include them in the blog.
